All Aboard The Asparagus Raft

I got this idea from the How To Grill book. I snapped my Asparagus stalks to remove the gross part, and then threaded them like a raft onto skewers. It certainly made it easier than turning each stalk individually like I used too. Plus, none fall through the grates this way.

Brushed with oil, dashed with salt, and then with a little soy and feta post heat. Look like this:

Taste like this: Wait, nevermind. They taste awesome.

Salsa Can

TheFoodAss | General | Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

Girlfriends sister loves salsa can. Now I do too. Why? Because it is ALMOST the perfect dual serving salsa size, perfect for 2-3 people. That way you dont have to use cold refrigerator salsa’s. Cold salsa = NASTY.

I was in Boulder over the weekend. It was pretty fun and I ate some goodies not readily available around here:

  • Buffalo Fajitas. Really, really good, lots of Buffalo meat out there it seems.
  • Boar Quesadilia. Ok, the boar was kinda tuff, tasted like duck/pork or something.
  • Peanut Butter dog treats. Tasted JUST like Ritz Bitz, just less greasy. No lies.
  • Jamba Juice. No smoothie shops here, I don’t know why, but there isnt. I got my light something or other with a performance boost every morning, it was rad.

I don’t have photo’s. My bad. I am a little hesitant to bring a camera, and take photo’s of my food in new places… I get lots of funny looks.

Supposedly there is a dude out there that sells Elk jerky from the back of a van. Unfortunately for us, we didnt spot him the entire weekend. If anyone has any back of van Elk jerky, please let me know.

Breakfast #3 BAM!

TheFoodAss | General | Tuesday, March 6th, 2007

Egg white & swiss omelette, southwest hash browns, 2 pieces bacon, 2 pieces toast.

Hash browns are one of those things that just work great in my cast iron jam. It’s also a foodstuff that does NOT take well to dickin’ around with. Seriously. You want good browns? This is how to cook em’. First, put has browns in hot pan with some veggie oil, press down.

Wait, 6 minutes or so. Flip the whole mess.

Remove to your plate. Brown on both sides and crispy. DO NOT go pushin them around with your spatula, or tossing or any of that crap. It is a low effort breakfast food. The rules ALSO apply for Corned Beef Hash….mmm hash.

TheFoodAss | General | Monday, March 5th, 2007

Cook With The Pan got me rofling HUGE. This dude, who is nuts, gettin his food VLOG on bigtime. Totally insane.

Check out the Superbowl episode (Hankie Pankies). Pan = My new hero.

I’ve been trying to get my girlfriend to follow me around with my cam, but she has this thing against “home video”. I try to tell her this isnt home video, and go off about web 2.0 and fueling the content revolution, then she goes in the bedroom and closes the door on me.. :(
